Lorraine LostrohMy name is Lorraine, and I have the privilege of being the first one to write on our new blog. Other NCHEA leaders, members, or guest blogggers may also be sharing their thoughts here.

The purpose of this blog is to encourage and support you in your exciting adventure of Biblical homeschooling. That is one of the two main reasons that the NCHEA was founded. The other one is to protect your God-given right to homeschool.

We hope to feature blogposts with topics such as:

  • Teaching tips
  • Home and family management tips
  • Biblical ponderings
  • Walking by faith, not sight
  • Stories from Nebraska history (Did you know it was illegal to homeschool in Nebraska until 1984?)

Lessons from Mistakes

I don’t want to ever come across as an expert. I made numerous mistakes in over 30 years of homeschooling my nine children; so much of my writing will come from lessons I learned from those mistakes. And many of my tips will be those I borrowed from others.

A great homeschool? Forget it!

I’m sure I never ran a great homeschool, but I recently read this in Children of the Day by Beth Moore:

“Forget setting out to do something great. That goal entangles our egos every time…Instead, resolve to do some good in Jesus’ name.”

I really like that, and I am praying this blog will be used to do some good. The above quote should encourage all of us to keep doing what God has called us to do even when we feel like we aren’t measuring up to some ideal of greatness. We don’t have to be super talented to do some good!

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.  –Ephesians 2:10

Thanks for reading!
