Learn how civic involvement makes a difference as state official address Nebraska issues and successes!

Plan ahead to meet your senator and share your vision for home education and parental rights.Contact your senator directly to meet during Legislative Day, or call the office of the Clerk of the Legislature for assistance: (402) 471-2271.

The event is free and open to all homeschool families in Nebraska.  Maps can be found here -- Parking, Capitol

Agenda*

9 a.m. -- Choose one or two of these activities to complete on your own:

  • Stop by your senator's office to confirm their availability to meet.
  • Tour the capitol (tours are on the hour).
  • Observe debate in the George W. Norris Legislative Chamber.

10 - 10:15 a.m.  --  Welcome

10:15 - 11 a.m.  -- Hear from select senators and elected officials

11 - 11:15 a.m. -- Legislative Process

11:15 - 11:30 a.m. -- What is a Lobbyist?

11:30 - 11:45 a.m. -- What is a Citizen Lobbyist?

11:15 a.m - Noon -- NCHEA Legislative Briefing

Noon - 12:15 p.m. -- Walk to First Baptist Church for lunch** and briefings

12:15 - 12:45 p.m.  -- Impacting Nebraska Politics

12:45 - 1 p.m. -- Family Issues Update

1 - 1:30 p.m. -- Candidates discuss Obamacare and Education Reform

1:30 p.m. -- Visit your senator's office or participate in a hearing.
